GLENDALE, Ariz. — Reliever Ronald Belisario will be late to White Sox camp with visa issues.
The right-hander, who signed with the club in December, is the only player among the team's 36 pitchers and catchers to not check in to the team's Camelback Ranch facility by Saturday's report date.
"It's not totally unforeseen that this was going to be bit of a process," general manager Rick Hahn said. "His agent had been working on it. ... We're hopeful it will get resolved here in the next few days."
The Venezuelan-born pitcher has had past visa issues when he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Belisario received a $3 million deal from the White Sox. He went 5-7 with a 3.97 ERA for Los Angeles last season. Hahn hopes the White Sox will know more by Wednesday or Thursday.
