While Adam Eaton and Matt Davidson may not be big names, the White Sox have acquired two players that will likely play significant roles on the team in the future.
CSN Chicago's White Sox Insider Dan Hayes joined the AT&T U-verse lounge on Tuesday to discuss the team’s offseason activity so far.
“The White Sox are far more interesting this offseason than they ever were in 2013,” Hayes said. “They’ve gone young, and they are expedited whereas the Cubs are just waiting for these guys to come along. These guys are at the major league level, or right as the cusp of it and ready to produce. I think that’s a good thing.”
In terms Eaton and Davidson specifically, Hayes believes they can bring something to the table that the team may not have had last season.
“The White Sox are trying to turn it around a little quicker than the Cubs,” Hayes said. “You look at Eaton, you have a possible every day center fielder and he’s a guy that will bring an edge. The White Sox were missing that last year. There was something that A.J. Pierzynski brought to the [team] and when he left, the clubhouse wasn’t quite as active. Also, Matt Davidson could be a third or fourth complimentary bat in your lineup, a big power guy. These are two very shrewd moves in the span of six days.”
