Previous games
The White Sox are mired in an awful stretch, having lost 10 of their last 11 games. They were swept by Detroit this week, losing the three games by the combined score of 21-3. In Sunday's 3-0 loss, the White Sox didn't manage a hit until the fifth inning and finished with just five hits - all singles - on the day.

The Yankees won both games of their rain-shortened series with the Orioles over the weekend. In Sunday's 6-3 win, Mariano Rivera blew the save in the ninth but was bailed out in the 11th on RBI singles by Russell Martin, Derek Jeter and Curtis Granderson.

Head-to-head
This is the first meeting between the teams this season. Last season, Chicago lost four of six matchups against New York.

Whos hot?
Not too many White Sox players could be described as hot right now, but A.J. Pierzynski does have a seven-game hitting streak in which he has raised his average to .275. Reliever Jesse Crain has a 1.74 ERA through eight appearances (10 13 innings) this season.

StorylinesStruggling as they are, the White Sox badly need a good showing in New York this week. But which aspect of the team is going to step up? The offense, which has been dreadful lately, has produced more than four runs just once in the team's last 11 games. ... Adam Dunn has eight hits and 24 strikeouts on the season.
Sound off
Do you think Ozzie Guillen has worn out his welcome in Chicago?
