GLENDALE, Ariz. — Sick for a second straight day, Paul Konerko has been scratched from Sunday’s lineup.

The White Sox captain has been under the weather since Friday night and manager Robin Ventura decided to give him the day off. The White Sox were rained out on Saturday.

With Adam Dunn gone to Los Angeles to attend the Academy Awards and Jeff Keppinger sidelined with shoulder issues, minor-leaguer Mike McDade will start as the team’s designated hitter in Konerko’s stead and bat fifth.

Jose Abreu is starting at first base and hitting third.
