We just finished Day 3 of White Sox Fantasy Camp, and Im proud to say that after three straight heartbreaking losses, my team finally won a game.
Playing in the big stadium at Camelback Ranch where the Sox and Dodgers play their actual spring training games, we came back from a six-run deficit to win 10-8. Or was it 10-9? I frankly have no idea. But I do know that we won. Thank goodness. We were becoming the laughingstock of the league.
CSN photographer Mike Cappozzo made a diving catch in left field for the final out. Cappozzo is in the running for Fantasy Camp MVP. He also homered today off Robin Ventura, who delivered Mike a hefty meatball to smack around 340 feet.
Mike has been lugging around a 40 pound camera, shooting stories with me which will air next week.
He was last seen with seven ice bags attached to his body.
As for my day at platenothing special. Just a couple of singles. Although Harold Baines purposely threw a pitch at my head in the 4th inning. Nothing like having one of your boyhood idols try to knock you out of the game. He was just having fun. I think.
So far, the team coached by Jim Fregosi, Jeff Cox, and Moose Skowron is proving to be world beaters. Theyre a perfect 4-and-0, outscoring their opponents 1,488 to 6. Actually, its not that bad. But it has me wondering who picked the teams.
Commissioner Bill Melton, do you have any idea?????
Ive put together a little photo diary of the week so far. Despite our 1-and-3 record, its been an incredible experience. Enjoy!
