The White Sox acquired Eaton from Arizona on Tuesday in exchange for Hector Santiago, who was then sent to the Los Angeles Angels along with fellow pitcher Tyler Skaggs for slugger Mark Trumbo.

Eaton, 25, is expected to be the team’s starting center fielder next season.

Jacobs joined the White Sox in July after he was acquired in a deal that sent Matt Thornton to the Boston Red Sox. The outfielder, who began the season as the No. 12 prospect in Boston’s farm system per Baseball America, produced a .237/.291/.327 slash line with two home runs and 22 RBIs in 176 plate appearances at Double-A Birmingham. Jacobs also appeared in 13 games in the Arizona Fall League this offseason and hit .256 with two homers and five RBIs in 43 at-bats.
