Chris Sale continues to play catch but the chances of him coming off the disabled list and starting in Cleveland aren’t strong.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura downplayed the idea Sale would return Saturday when he’s eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list.
The two-time All-Star played catch for a third straight day and is expected to play long toss on Wednesday. But Sale still hasn’t reached the threshold the White Sox need to see him cross to convince them he’s ready to return.
“It’s slim at the best,” Ventura said. “Again he’ll throw and we’ll see how he does, he’s going to be the best judge of that. We can sit here and make all the plans we want. But until he throws and feels 100 percent, he can go out there and nothing is going to jump back on him, then he would throw.”
