The White Sox have made three roster moves prior to today's doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers.

The White Sox have promoted right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt from Class AA Birmingham. The team also recalled left-hander Eric Surkamp from Class AAA Charlotte and optioned Scott Carroll to Charlotte to make room for Bassitt, who will wear No. 61.

The move to demote Carroll, who pitched last night, is to bring up a healthy arm in case it's needed. Surkamp will serve as the 26th man for the doubleheader.

Bassitt, 25, had a 3-1 record with Birmingham this season posting a 1.56 ERA and 36 strikeouts in six starts. Bassitt is a former 16th round draft pick by the White Sox in 2011 who came out of the University of Akron.
