White Sox option Matt Davidson, Jordan Danks to minors

Prior to Sunday's White Sox-Rockies game, the club made five roster moves to get closer to the final 25-man roster for Opening Day.

The White Sox optioned outfielder Jordan Danks, third baseman Matt Davidson and pitcher Jake Petricka to Class AAA Charlotte.

Danks was having a spectacular spring, leading the team with five home runs and 10 RBI in 20 games.

Davidson, who the White Sox acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks for Addison Reed in the offseason, was batting .308 with two home runs and six RBI in 17 games.

Petricka, who spent part of the 2013 in the majors with the White Sox, was 0-1 with a 4.82 ERA in eight games this spring.

The White Sox also announced that pitcher Dylan Axelrod was reassigned to minor-league camp and that they have requested waivers on reliever Mitchell Boggs for the purpose of granting his unconditional release.

The White Sox now have 33 players remaining in camp.
