The list of injured White Sox continues to grow.
The team announced Saturday afternoon that third baseman Conor Gillaspie was heading to the disabled list. Filling his roster spot is recently acquired pitcher Hector Noesi.
Gillaspie had been sidelined for several games and now heads to the DL with what the club calls a left hand contusion. His stay is retroactive to April 22.
It's an unfortunate bump in the road for the third baseman, who had been swinging a hot bat throughout the first month of the season. He's hitting .302 with 12 RBIs and eight runs scored.
Noesi, meanwhile, joins the team after being claimed on waivers from the Rangers on Friday. The Sox are already his third major league team this season. He began the year on the Mariners roster and was traded to the Rangers on April 12 before being designated for assignment on April 22.
Between the Mariners and Rangers, Noesi has allowed 10 runs in 6 1/3 innings of relief work. That includes giving up seven runs in one inning against the Sox on April 20.
For his career, Noesi has a 5.81 ERA in 196 2/3 innings over parts of four seasons with the Yankees, Mariners and Rangers.
