The White Sox will push John Danks back one day to Wednesday and move Andre Rienzo back several days after Tuesday’s game was postponed by rain.
No makeup date has been announced for what would have been the second of four meetings this week between the White Sox and Detroit Tigers.
Instead of pushing every starting pitcher back one day, the White Sox will remove Rienzo from starting against Detroit altogether.
Danks, who has been sharp over his last three turns, now pitches on Wednesday night while Chris Sale stays on schedule to start on Thursday in the series finale. The White Sox moved Rienzo’s next start back to the series finale against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
Jose Quintana throws in the series opener against the Royals on Friday and Hector Noesi pitches on Saturday.
The Tigers announced they will skip Drew Smyly's scheduled start. Justin Verlander will start for Detroit on Wednesday and Max Scherzer will start Thursday's series finale.
This is the White Sox first game to be cancelled by weather this season.
