Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Ted Williams. These are names you'll see when discussing who are the greatest players in MLB history. But what about the most beloved players?

Well, The Sporting News has answered that question. The magazine unveiled its picks for the most beloved players in the history of each of the 30 MLB teams on Wednesday.

For the Cubs, it came down to Hall of Famers Ron Santo and Ernie Banks, but Santo edged out Banks probably because of his time as a Cubs broadcaster as well as a player. He touched many fans' heart on the field and in the broadcast booth with his enthusiasm.

One fan said it best in The Sporting News: "Santo most beloved. Banks is the best Cub player."

On the South Side, the two-time MVP, Frank Thomas, aka "the Big Hurt," earned the nod as the White Sox most loved player.

"You want to talk White Sox, Frank Thomas' name has got to be No. 1," former Sox manager Ozzie Guillen told The Sporting News. "I think Frank Thomas did stuff for this organization that people are not going to forget."

Harold Baines, Billy Pierce, Minnie Minoso, Luis Aparicio and Nellie Fox were all considered for the Sox as well. Surprisingly, Paul Konerko didn't make the list.
