The White Sox believed in third baseman Matt Davidson enough to part with closer Addison Reed for him in an offseason trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

But will Davidson be manning the hot corner come Opening Day?

The position is crowded with Jeff Keppinger and Conor Gillaspie both expected to be in the mix along with Davidson. The future appears to be bright for the California native, but his future in 2014 could be with the Charlotte Knights.

MLB.com White Sox beat writer Scott Merkin checked in on SportsNet Central Tuesday night to discuss the spring training battle at third base.

"Davidson is one of the intersting decisions to be made in camp," Merkin said. "Along with a guy like Marcus Semien, they have so many good young players that are in the mix at third base. It's a little jumbled right now."
