The sprained left ankle of Carlos Boozer is improving, but in typically mysterious fashion, the power forward wont set a timetable on his return to the Bulls lineup.

Getting better every day. Today was a little better than yesterday and Im seeing good improvement, so Im happy with that, said Boozer after Mondays practice at the Berto Center. When my ankles ready Ill be back, but our team is playing great.

Ive got to work on my landing, huh? Bad landing, but thank God its just my ankle and its getting better, so hopefully Ill be back very soon, he quipped when discussing the injuryhe termed the flagrant foul by Bobcats center Kwame Brown that caused it a basketball playwith reporters. Its still swollen, but itll get down. The pain will go away at some point.

Although Boozer did some shooting Monday, he didnt practice with the team. Still, Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau hazarded an educated guess about when the two-time All-Star would return.

Boozer did a little bit more. Didnt do anything in practice, but did some cardio, some weightlifting. Better today. Well see where he is tomorrow, said Bulls head coach Thibodeau. Each day, hes gotten better, so Boozer will return probably within the week.

Obviously wed rather have him back, continued the coach. But if hes not back, we feel good about our bench.

In Boozers two-game absence thus far, Thibodeau has started veteran Kurt Thomas, citing his preference to keep the teams second unitparticularly the defensive-minded duo of young big men Taj Gibson and rookie Omer Asikintact. Chicago has won both games Boozer has missed, keeping alive the teams six-game winning streak.

Both Boozer and Thibodeau have compared the power forwards current injury to a previous sprained ankle he suffered this season, after which he missed three games. After facing Washington at home Tuesday night, the Bulls will hit the road, taking on New Jersey and Indiana.
