Lovie still keeping QB plans secret

One thought with the Bears quarterback situation and Jay Cutlers concussion condition was that the team might make an early declaration of Cutler out of the San Francisco 49ers game next Monday. If its going to be the case anyway, as suggested by the rapid signing of Josh McCown as a backup, the show of caution might be a significant statement.

But colleague Matt Maiocco at CSNBayArea.com reported Thursday that Lovie Smith, on his conference call with the San Francisco media would not divulge Jay Cutlers status for todays practice, let alone Monday nights game vs. 49ers.

49ers quarterback Alex Smith has been cleared to practice after his concussion last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. His exact status wont be established until later in the week.

Cutler, however, canceled his Monday radio show and the Bears moved back the quarterbacks weekly appearance, whoever it is, at the podium from Wednesday (Thursday this week because of the Monday Night Football game). And word is that Jason Campbell is off-limits after practice Thursday.
