According to Illinois State Police, Bears tight end Evan Rodriguez was arrested Friday morning at 3:30 a.m. after a traffic stop on I-90 where he was charged with driving under the influence, speeding and an improper lane change. The arrest is the second this offseason for Rodriguez.
The Bears issued a statement regarding the matter.
"We are aware of the reports regarding Evan Rodriguez," the Bears said in a statement early Friday evening. "We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the situation."
The incident could put Rodriguez' roster spot in jeopardy with training camp less than two months away. He was arrested in Miami Beach, Fla., March 21 for resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication after being a passenger in a car that was pulled over. Each charge was eventually dropped by the prosecutors.
Chicago originally drafted Rodriguez in the fourth-round out of Temple in 2012. He played in 12 games, catching four passes for 21 yards last season.
