Wide receiver Earl Bennett and defensive tackle Henry Melton, who both sat out of the San Diego game after suffering concussions, both made it out to practice on Tuesday but did not participate and are not expected to play in the Bears' third preseason game against Oakland.

Bennett suffered his concussion in practice on Aug. 2, while Melton went out of the Carolina game in the first quarter with his. With Bennett’s future cloudy at this point, the search continues for a bona fide No. 3 receiver.

“There’s a couple of guys that have obviously showed you they are ready, you saw it in the [San Diego] game,” said offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer. “Joe Anderson has come back, and Marquess [Wilson, rookie] has come back. We’re looking for that guy. Terrence Toliver has gotten reps. There has been a lot of guys that have gotten a chance, and I’m probably forgetting somebody, but we’re going to find that guy.”

Tackle Jonathan Scott (knee) also remains out, leaving the door ajar for Eben Britton and J’Marcus Webb to gain advantages in competition for the No. 3 tackle spot.
