Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery are getting an early start on their preseason work as the 2013 NFL season kicks into gear, and Wednesday they sought out the advice of one of the all-time greats.
Chad Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, tweeted out photos this morning of Marshall and Jeffery working out with him at Fit Speed Athletic Performance, a workout facility located in Weston, Fla.
Johnson was out of football last season after the Dolphins released him in training camp amid his arrest for domestic violence. Johnson was accused of head-butting his newlywed wife, and his release was documented publicly on HBO's "Hard Knocks." In his 11-year career the 35-year-old Johnson has racked up 766 receptions, 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.
Johnson has said he is looking to return to football, so working out with one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL to swap advice seems like a step in the right direction.
Marshall was third in the NFL last season with 118 receptions and 1,508 receiving yards, while his 11 touchdowns ranked fourth, behind only James Jones, Eric Decker and Dez Bryant.
Various knee, hand and foot injuries cost Jeffery six games his rookie season, and he finished with 24 receptions, 367 yards and three touchdowns. In the picture Johnson tweeted out, everything from his smile to his actual shirt is glowing, and it should serve him well as he enters Year 2 in Chicago.
Fit Speed Athletic Performance was founded in 2008 by Matt Gates, and he partnered up with Marshall in 2011, according to their website. The pair have worked together since Marshall was a standout collegiate wide receiver at Central Florida. Training techniques focus on improving speed, agility and explosiveness.
