The Bears have re-signed linebacker D.J. Williams to a one-year deal, according to a report.

Williams was signed last offseason with hopes of him becoming the replacement for the departed Brian Urlacher. But like many on the Bears' defense, he battled significant injuries and appeared in just six games, starting only four. He totaled 27 tackles and two sacks in limited time.

He was slated to be the team's starting middle linebacker, though rookie Jonathan Bostic spent the majority of the season at that position. Between the injury to Williams and another significant one to Lance Briggs, the Bears linebacking corps was decimated and was therefore ineffective much of the season.
