As part of our coverage leading up to the 2015 NFL Draft we will provide profiles of 200 prospects, including what the scouts around the league are saying and video interviews with each player.

Jamil Douglas (OG), Arizona State

6’4” | 304 lbs.

Projection:

4th-5th round

What scouts are saying:

"Quick off the snap. Plays with good leverage in pass protection to absorb bull rush, good flexibility and core strength. Slides well laterally and looks to help teammates when not covered up. Flashes a nasty streak, taking defenders to the ground." - Rob Rang, CBSSports.com

"Athletic build with desired flexibility throughout lower body. Has recovery quickness to catch delayed blitzers and twists. Flashes promising quick-set that he will use to take early lead in protection." - Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

"Douglas gets by with adequate length and plus athleticism, but his play demeanor will have to ramp up in order to make it as an NFL guard. Douglas flashes enough potential to excite teams looking for athletic traits, but his lack of functional power will be hard to overlook for others. Douglas could benefit from a glass-chewing mentor in the NFL." - Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

Fit for the Bears:

Douglas seems to be a nice fit for a pass-happy offense (like the previous regime) that needs athletic interior lineman oppose to physical run-blockers. With the addition of new head coach John Fox, it's unclear if a prospect like Douglas would be a good fit. Bears GM Ryan Pace will have several decisions to make as the draft progresses, including what type of players he wants to stock the roster with for added depth. Using a late round pick on Douglas could come down to what Fox wants or doesn't want and what Pace is willing to provide him, based off of his own evaluation.
