For the first time since 2000, Brian Urlacher won't be preparing for the rigors of an NFL season.

In the meantime, the former Bears linebacker caught up with CSN's Chuck Garfien for a one-on-one interview that will air Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 6:30 and 10:00 p.m. on SportsNet Central.

Urlacher's former teammate Brandon Marshall made headlines this week after being excused from the Bears for "personal reasons."

Marshall underwent offseason hip surgery and Urlacher knows what the Bears No. 1 wide receiver is going through as he tries to get healthy for Week 1.

"I hope his hip is okay," Urlacher told Garfien. "I don't know what he's doing or what's going on, but I just hope he gets his hip better and he gets right mentally.

"When your body is not right, it's hard to be right up here. You're used to your body reacting a certain way and when it's not, it's hard to be okay mentally as well."
