Indiana will start junior-college transfer Richard Lagow at quarterback when the Hoosiers open the season against Florida International next week.

Head coach Kevin Wilson told reporters last week that Lagow was ahead in the position battle also involving Zander Diamont and Danny Cameron, and Friday he confirmed that Lagow won the job, the team's depth chart listing Lagow as the No. 1 quarterback.

Lagow spent one season at a junior college in Texas, completing 66 percent of his passes for 2,285 yards with 21 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions.

Diamont and Cameron are listed as co-backups on the Hoosiers' depth chart, and Wilson said that just because Lagow is the starter doesn't mean he'll be the only quarterback the team uses.

Diamont and Cameron didn't see much actionlast season, when Nate Sudfeld led the Hoosiers to the best offensive numbers in the Big Ten. Diamont threw 31 passes in two games, and Cameron threw 16 passes in one game, the duo combining for 231 yards and zero touchdowns.

Sudfeld will be a tough act to follow for Lagow. Indiana's all-time leading passer, Sudfeld was a sixth-round pick in this year's NFL Draft.
