Minutes before kicking off in its season-opening game against Norfolk State, Rutgers announced that the five players arrested on Thursday were dismissed from the program.

Sophomore defensive back Dre Boggs, junior defensive back Ruhann Peele, junior defensive back Nadir Barnwell, sophomore full back Razohnn Gross and junior defensive back Delon Stephenson were the five players dismissed Saturday morning.

Thursday, those five players are just half of the 10 defendants listed in multiple cases. Boggs was charged with robbery, burglary while armed, conspiracy to commit an armed robbery and attempted burglary while armed in multiple home invasions. The other four were charged with aggravated assault, riot and conspiracy to commit a riot after attacking a group of people back in April.

Rutgers athletics director Julie Hermann announced indefinite suspensions for the quintet of players on Thursday.

Barnwell is also at the center of the university's investigation into head coach Kyle Flood, under investigation for violating a school rule forbidding coaches from communicating with professors regarding student-athletes' academic status.

Peele was initially suspended for the first half of Saturday's game for missing curfew.
