Brandon Saad is out and Michal Handzus will play in his 1000th career game when the Chicago Blackhawks host the St. Louis Blues tonight at the United Center.
Saad suffered an upper-body injury against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday and will now miss two consecutive games. But coach Joel Quenneville said, in regards to Saad’s return, there’s a “good chance by the weekend, and fingers crossed for Friday.”
Corey Crawford will start for the Blackhawks. Michal Rozsival (lower body) is out tonight. Quenneville said Rozsival, “is progressing, but he’s out a few games.”
As far as the Teuvo Teravainen plan, Quenneville said he didn’t know the plan yet for when the Finnish forward would practice and play with the Blackhawks.
Meanwhile, Handzus will play in his 1000th career game. Handzus faces a Blues team that drafted him 101st overall in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. He played for St. Louis from 1998-2000.
Ryan Miller will start for the Blues.
