Michal Rozsival underwent successful surgery on his fractured left ankle, the Blackhawks announced on Tuesday.

Team physicial Dr. Michael Terry, who performed the surgery with Dr. Bradley Merk, said in a statement that, “the procedure went very well and we anticipate [Rozsival] returning to full hockey activities in approximately 12-16 weeks.”

Rozsival broke his ankle on Thursday, in Game 4 of the Blackhawks’ second-round series against the Minnesota Wild. He was ruled out for the rest of this postseason the following day.

While Rozsival had an up-and-down regular season he was having a good series against the Wild. He was also playing anywhere from 15-18 minutes a game, something the Blackhawks will have to replace in his absence. David Rundblad will take Rozsival’s place – and will be paired with Duncan Keith – when the Blackhawks face the Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference Final. Dates and times of the series have yet to be announced.
