The Chicago Blackhawks trimmed their roster to close to final, as they assigned Jeremy Morin and Brandon Pirri, along with Antti Raanta, to the Rockford IceHogs late Saturday night.
The Blackhawks' roster now sits at 24 players. It has to be down to at least 23 by Monday.

Morin was a healthy scratch in the Blackhawks' final preseason game on Saturday night, so his assignment to the IceHogs wasn't a big surprise. Pirri was someone general manager Stan Bowman pegged as getting a good opportunity to make this roster. But Pirri was injured for part of training camp, and he may not have done enough down the stretch to change his status.
Raanta was previously assigned to Rockford last week, but was recalled on Saturday because Corey Crawford was out with stiffness in his lower body. Raanta served as backup goaltender to Nikolai Khabibulin in the Blackhawks' 4-3 overtime victory over the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
