The St. Louis Blues went all in. This was the year things were supposed to be different.
The Blues recorded a 111-point total throughout the regular season, leading to a franchise-record 52 wins.
But then the injuries hit, resulting in the Blues dropping their final six games of the regular season which booted them from the top seed in the Central Division, leaving them with no choice but to face the defending champions in the first round.
The Blues had no doubts that this was the year. Acquiring goaltender Ryan Miller was supposed to be the final piece to the puzzle. But after Games 1 and 2, the Blues found themselves in an all-too-familiar situation as they packed their bags for good inside the United Center.
The Blues, as they stated below, fell short of their expectations. And because of that, owner Tom Stillman took a full-page ad out to apologize to the fans.
