Five years ago today, the long wait ended.

Patrick Kane scored the game-winning goal on June 9, 2010 against the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final to snap the Blackhawks' 49-year championship drought.

And although Chicago had to wait a few seconds longer to confirm that the puck, indeed, was in the back of the net, the Blackhawks essentially completed one of the quickest turnarounds in sports history.

Three years after finishing near the basement of the NHL standings, the Blackhawks found themselves on the top of the mountain and they haven't looked back since, appearing in five Conference Final's in the last seven seasons and three Stanley Cup Final's in the last six years.

Kane has yet to score in the first three games of this year's Stanley Cup Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but perhaps he's waiting for a moment like this to make it all worth the wait again.
