NHL Power Rankings: Capitals still going strong near top

No Carey Price? No problem. The Canadiens continue to run away with the No. 1 spot, owning a 10-point lead in the Atlantic Division, as 25-year-old rookie goaltender Mike Condon was named the NHL's third star of the week.

The Rangers climbed to No. 2 after winning their fifth straight game, while the Capitals continue to secure a high spot for their consistent play.

9-5-0, 18 points: The Kings have their seven-game winning streak snapped by the Blackhawks, but bounced back with a shut out win on the road over St. Louis.

8-6-1, 17 points: An impressive win, without Duncan Keith and Marian Hossa, over a Los Angeles team that was on a seven-game win streak reminded the NHL that they're still the team to beat when focused.

8-3-2, 18 points: The Predators are 5-0-0 in games when they're outshot, and 3-3-2 when they outshoot their opponent.

9-5-0, 18 points: The Penguins have scored one power play goal in each of their last five games (13 attempts). They scored two total in their first nine games (31 attempts).

8-3-2, 18 points: A big test coming for the Wild, whose captain Zach Parise is listed as "week-to-week" with a right MCL sprain.

7-5-3, 17 points: The Islanders allowed just three goals on the penalty kill in their first 12 games (39 attempts). They've given up three in as many games (10 attempts).

7-7-0, 14 points: The Sharks kick off a six-game road trip on Friday against Detroit, Buffalo, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Columbus.

5-6-3, 13 points: The Panthers are 0-3-2 in their last five games, but the good news is they'll play seven of their next eight at home, where they are 3-2-1 this season.

6-8-0, 12 points: Rasmus Ristolainen spoiled Ryan Miller's homecoming back to Buffalo after scoring two goals, the game-winner with 17 seconds to play in regulation.

5-10-0, 10 points: The loss of Connor McDavid (broken clavicle) is enormous, but the silver lining is the opportunity for a young Oilers team to collectively step up in his absence.
