Barkevious Mingo (DE), LSU

6-4| 241 lbs.

2012 Stats:

38 tackles, 8.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 12 QBH, 2 FR, FF

Drafted:

1st Round - No. 6 overall to the Cleveland Browns

Strengths:

Explosive first step off the snap. Lean build with the body type to add more muscle mass. Good speed with the ability to turn the corner off the edge. Uses his long arms to bat balls down at the line of scrimmage. Sinks his hips to get leverage on his opponents. Ability to stick with running backs out of the backfield. Mingo has as much upside as any defender in the 2013 draft class.

Weaknesses:

A bit undersized to play defensive end in a 4-3 defense at the next level. Could be asked to switch to outside linebacker in the NFL. Not good at changing directions due to his long legs. Scouts would like to see Mingo develop more pass rushing moves. At times has struggled to shed blocks.
