Jake Flannigan

Jonathan Cyprien (S), Florida International

6-0 | 217 lbs.

2012 Stats:

93 tackles, 4 INT, 5 PD, 3.5 TFL, FF

Projection:

2nd Round

Strengths:

Physical player that can play both positions. Continues to see his stock rise because of his versatility and aggressive style of play. Has the ability to come down into the box and be an impact player. Secure tackler who plays with an edge.

Weaknesses:

Sometimes over-aggressive in pass coverage. Lacks elite speed and quickness, but still an effective player in almost all situations.

Fit for the Bears:

The Bears had some of the most dependable and productive play out of both starting safeties in 2012, something that has not always been the case in the recent past. Major Wright and Chris Conte are two young players that are expected to return and continue their development. With all of that said, both Wright and Conte were both drafted by former general manager Jerry Angelo and former head coach Lovie Smith. If the Bears decided to take Cyprien in the second round it would certainly be an unconventional selection, but no one really knows what to expect with Phil Emery and Marc Trestman as they enter their first draft together.
