Jake Flannigan

Larry Warford (OG), Kentucky

6-3 | 332 lbs.

Selected by:

Detroit Lions (3rd Round, 65th overall)

Strengths:

Warford is a big, powerful interior lineman that can really pack a punch. Good balance and athletic ability. Not an explosive athlete, but agile enough to get downfield and make a crucial block. Has the ability to pull and make a play on the edge, but sometimes looks lost in space. Has shown a mean streak at times, which is obviously a positive in his line of work.

Weaknesses:

Fails to get off the ball with any sort of explosion at times and can be inconsistent when blocking in the second level. Warford needs to polish his game in the trenches. Some scouts feel he lacks awareness when attempting to block quicker linemen.

Fit for the Lions:

The Lions got good value on Warford as most had him projected in the mid-to-late second round. They addressed a massive need on their offensive line as former starting right guard Stephen Peterman has signed with the New York Jets. Warford should be able to start from Day 1 and help protect Matt Stafford in the pocket.
