Deng (ribs), Rose (foot) out vs. Wizards

Derrick Rose and Luol Deng will miss tonights game against the Washington Wizards.

Rose is dealing with some soreness in his right foot. He participated in shootaround prior to tip-off, but its the same foot where he sprained an ankle in the April 8 loss to the New York Knicks in which he was making his return from a 12-game absence while rehabbing from a strained groin.

Bulls Coach Tom Thibodeau wasnt sure how Rose hurt the foot and was awaiting word on what the exact issue is and whether it was related to the still sore ankle. The injury flared up overnight, but is not believed to be serious.

Thats the way the season has been and not just for us, for everybody, said Thibodeau. You just have to deal with it, its part of the game. Even in a normal season, youre dealing with injuries and so you have to respond to those challenges and I think our team has shown we have more than enough to win with.

The reigning MVP missed last Tuesdays game against the Knicks as the team held him out to get additional rest for the sore ankle. He returned to play vs. the Miami Heat on Thursday where he scored just two points and shot 1-13 from the field. He scored 24 points and handed out 9 assists in the Bulls overtime win in Detroit on Sunday.

Deng took a shot in his ribs in Sundays win against Detroit and the move to sit him out might also be to get him some rest.

Its winding down and weve had guys miss a lot of time, but we feel good about the guys we have playing, said Thibodeau. Our bench has done a great job all year. Somebody is hurt or injured than the next guy has to step up.
