The Bulls have added two more members to their representation with USA Basketball.

Both Jimmy Butler and Doug McDermott were named to the 2014 USA Men's Select Team that will train July 28-31 with the Men's National Team in Las Vegas, USA basketball announced Tuesday.

"USA Basketball's Select Teams are critical for getting some of the game's brightest and most promising young players experience at the USA National Team level, and getting them into our pipeline," said Jerry Colangelo, USA Basketball National Team managing director, in a press release. "Again this summer...the members of the USA Select Team will play an important role in helping prepare the USA National Team for the 2014 FIBA World Cup."

It'll be the second straight season McDermott, a rookie, has competed on the Select Team - he also competed prior to his senior season at Creighton. Most recently, the No. 11 pick in last month's draft who signed with the Bulls Tuesday, posted 18.0 points per game in four Las Vegas Summer League contests, and his outside shooting will be a good barometer for the national team to face in practice as they prepare for international play. Rookie Marcus Smart also was named to the team for the second consecutive season.

Butler's breakout 2013-14 campaign included averages of 13.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game. He also was named to the NBA's All-Defensive second team and established himself as one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA.

Both McDermott and Butler are worthy candidates for the select team, and it didn't hurt having Tom Thibodeau on as one of head coach Mike Krzyzewski's assistants. Thibodeau joined the staff last summer along with New Orleans Pelicans head coach Monty Williams, and the staff is rounded out by Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim.

McDermott and Butler will face off against Derrick Rose, who will try out for the national team after missing all but 10 games last season with a torn meniscus in his right knee. The last time Rose participated with Team USA, in 2010, he was named NBA MVP the following season.

"Being chosen for the Select Team is an honor and an important step in becoming involved in USA Basketball's National Team program in the future," Colangelo added in the press release. "In the past, current national team players like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, as well as many other outstanding players got their USA National Team start through the Select Team."
