Jimmy Butler will be a busy man this summer.

After signing a five-year, $90 million max extension last week, the Bulls shooting guard received an invite to the USA Basketball mini-camp next month in Las Vegas, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. He won't be the only new candidate for the 2016 Olympic team, reports Stein.

The camp, held from August 11-13 on UNLV's campus, is the first Team USA gathering since the Americans won last summer's FIBA World Championship, led by Kyrie Irving, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Derrick Rose also was selected to that team, marking his first basketball activities since suffering a torn meniscus early in the 2013-14 NBA season.

Butler was invited to try out for that team, but a slightly strained groin kept him from competition. Instead, Butler rested that groin and worked out on his own over the summer, setting the stage for a career year in which he averaged 20.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He was named the NBA's Most Improved Player, appeared in his first All-Star Game and was named to the NBA's All-Defensive Second Team for the second consecutive season.
