Taj Gibson undergoes ankle surgery, out four months

The Bulls announced Friday that forward Taj Gibson underwent successful ankle surgery on Tuesday and will not return to full basketball activities for four months.

The 29-year-old Gibson battled multiple ankle injuries this past season, forcing him to miss 20 games. In the 62 games he appeared in he averaged 10.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 27.3 minutes per game.

With Gibson potentially missing the start of the season, it could change how the Bulls approach next week's NBA Draft. Chicago sits at No. 22 and has multiple holes to fill after falling to LeBron James' Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals last month.
