A couple of changes hit the North Side prior to tonight's start against the San Diego Padres.
The Chicago Cubs announced that Darwin Barney has been designated for assignment and pitcher Zac Rosscup was optioned to Triple-A as Emilio Bonifacio comes off the 15-day disabled list.
Pitcher Kyle Hendricks has also been recalled from Triple-A Iowa for tonight's start.
Barney batted .230 with 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 16 RBI in 72 games with the Cubs this season. Since making his major-league debut with the Cubs in 2010, Barney's hit .244 with 88 doubles, 18 home runs and 146 RBI in 542 games.
