The Chicago Cubs announced Saturday that pitcher Dan Straily has been recalled and outfielder Junior Lake has been optioned to Triple-A.
Straily — who was acquired in the deal that sent Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel to Oakland — will wear No. 19 as he makes his Cubs debut at Citi Field.
The 25-year-old has not allowed an earned run in his last three starts with Iowa, spanning 19 innings. Straily had pitched parts of the last three seasons with the A's, going 13-11 with a 4.11 ERA in 41 starts.
Lake is hitting .216 with 10 doubles, three triples and nine home runs in 98 games this season.
