The Cubs head into this upcoming week following an offensive explosion on Sunday in a 8-3 win over the Phillies, and now David Kaplan and Todd Hollandsworth are getting you ready with today's Cubs Road Ahead, presented by Chicagoland and NW Indiana Honda Dealers.
The Cubs hope to bring some of the momentum the team created on Sunday to Wrigley Field again on Tuesday when the Pittsburgh Pirates (4-2) come to town.
Pitching has been the Cubs' strength to start the season. The staff has allowed more than four runs only once all year, but it's been the offense that has failed to produce until Sunday.
In the opening series against the Pirates, the Cubs were only able to muster up six runs through the three games in Pittsburgh. Both Kaplan and Hollandsworth expect strong pitching performances from both teams starting Tuesday.
"I expect a hard fought, well-pitched, low-scoring series," Hollandsworth said.
Following their series with the Pirates, the Cubs will make their first trip to St. Louis to take on the fundamentally-sound Cardinals (4-3). Hollandsworth admitted the Cardinals have the exact team makeup that the Cubs are looking for to succeed in the future.
"They do things the right way," Hollandsworth said. "Their staring pitching gives them a chance to win each and every time. You got to like their rotation. They got big time arms in the bullpen. They got young guys coming through and a functional offense that really feeds off each other."
