The Cubs announced Wednesday afternoon they have signed Virginia Tech catcher Mark Zagunis.

Zagunis, the Cubs' third-round selection in the 2014 Draft, batted .330 with two home runs, 39 RBI and 10 doubles in 53 games for the Hokies in 2014.

He was named All-ACC Second Team for the second time in his collegiate career and was a 2014 Johnny Bench Award semifinalist.

The 21-year-old Zagunis hit .338 with a .430 on-base percentage in three seasons with Virginia Tech. He also compiled 52 stolen bases during his time in Blacksburg.

The Cubs have now signed 21 of their first 22 picks from the 2014 Draft. The only remaining player outside the Top 22 is sixth-round selection Dylan Cease.
