"What does a Cubs fan do after his team wins the World Series?"

"He turns off his PlayStation 3."

This is the joke GQ uses when describing why the Chicago Cubs are listed as the third worst sports francise of all time, a list that comes out in GQ's October issue.

Consider that is all that's written as an explanation, one would assume, then, that the Cubs' World Series drought is the main -- and possibly the only -- reason why they are even on this list, let alone so high in the rankings.

The Detroit Lions came in at second and "Every Cleveland Sports Franchise" took home the top spot.

So, phew. At least there was one baseball team ahead of the Cubs. As GQ put it, Cleveland's last title between the Indians, Cavaliers and Browns was four years before LeBron James' mother was even born. Yikes.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Michael Jordan's Bobcats rounded out the Top 5.

The only other baseball teams on the list were the Kansas City Royals (7), New York Mets (12), Philadelphia Phillies (14) and Pittsburgh Pirates (18).

Though, to be fair, the Pirates just made the playoffs for the first time since I started following baseball as a five-year-old kid and both the Bucs and Royals look poised to be among MLB's contenders for the next couple of seasons with a very good young core.

The Cubs are trying to climb off this list, but given the unthinkable 105-year drought, it would obviously take a World Series championship before GQ would bump them off.
