Kaplan: Nationals ask to interview Girardi

While contract talks continue between Joe Girardi and the Yankees, another suitor has entered the fray.

According to CSN's David Kaplan, the Nationals have requested permission to interview Girardi. 

Washington has a vacancy at manager after the retirement of Davey Johnson.

On Thursday, the New York Daily News reported New York would refuse to let the Cubs to speak to Girardi about their open managerial the job.

The Reds could also enter the mix after parting ways with Dusty Baker.
