The DePaul women's basketball team has earned a No. 3 seed in the Philadelphia region and will play Patriot League champ Navy in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

The NCAA field was announced Monday.

DePaul (27-6) is making its ninth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance under veteran coach Doug Bruno. The Blue Demons tied for second in the Big East regular season and then lost to Notre Dame 71-67 in the conference tournament semifinals.

The No. 3 seed is the best in school history. DePaul was seeded fourth in 2006 when it made the round of 16 before losing in the regional semifinals to LSU.

If DePaul beats Navy (20-11) at University Park, Pa., it would play the winner of Penn State-Dayton in the next round. The Nittany Lions are playing on their home floor.
