Map: Where are Notre Dame's 2016 recruits coming from?

Notre Dame's 23-member recruiting class, as usual, has a national flair to it. Twelve states are represented, as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia.

The Irish went into competitive, talent-rich states and had success, pulling seven recruits from Florida, three from California and two from both Georgia and Ohio.

Notre Dame still has an offer out for five-star receiver Demetris Robertson (Savannah, Ga.), who's ranked by Rivals as the eighth-best recruit in the class of 2016. Landing him would mean 11 members of the recruiting class would be from SEC territory, and if Charlotte (Julian Okwara) is included in that equation, half of this group would be natives of the nation's most talent-rich region.

That'd be an impressive feat given Notre Dame overhauled its coaching staff and recruiting department a year ago. But coach Brian Kelly pointed to the established nature of his program in allowing he and his assistants to successfully land these 23 players from across the country.

"It definitely helps when you know exactly what you're looking for, and I think you're probably scrambling a little bit more in your first couple of years because you're still kind of figuring out what's your profile, how are we going to go about doing this," Kelly said. "So we had a clear mandate as to how we recruit here, so that was easier to articulate, and then it's a matter of putting the right pieces and the right people on the staff."
