Notre Dame announces 2016 night games, 2017 schedule

Notre Dame will play two home night games for the second consecutive year this fall, with contests against Michigan State (Sept. 17) and Stanford (Oct. 15) both kicking off in primetime at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Both games will be televised by NBC. Notre Dame's television deal with NBC calls for five primetime games over a rolling two-year period, with those two home dates against Michigan State and Stanford counting toward that total. Notre Dame played three primetime games on NBC/NBCSN in 2015 (Texas, USC, Boston College).

Because Notre Dame will host two primetime games, its Nov. 12 Shamrock Series game against Army will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC. It'll be the first Shamrock Series game to not kick off in primetime.

Notre Dame's remaining home dates in 2016 -- Sept. 10 vs. Nevada, Sept. 24 vs. Duke, Oct. 29 vs. Miami and Nov. 19 vs. Virginia Tech -- will all kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET. Nov. 5's neutral site game against Navy will kick off at 11:30 a.m. ET, as was previously announced this year.

Notre Dame also finalized its 2017 schedule on Thursday, which is below (note that the Shamrock Series will go on a one-year hiatus in 2017):
