School: Brother Rice

Head coach: Brian Badke

How they fared in 2015: 10-2 (3-1) Chicago Catholic League Blue Conference. Brother Rice made the Class 8A state playoff field. The Crusaders defeated Bartlett and South Elgin then lost to Palatine in the quarterfinals.

Biggest storyline in 2016: Can the Crusaders survive the CCL Blue and make a deep run in 8A?

Names to watch this season: WR Ricky Smalling, DT Larry Washington

Biggest holes to fill: Can the Crusaders replace graduated school record-setting quarterback Cam Miller?

EDGY's early take: Brother Rice has big shoes to fill under center, yet the overall talent level for the Crusaders is still very strong in 2016. With 10 starters back (five offense, five defense) the Crusaders have enough experience to take on the always rugged CCL Blue slate and beyond.
