CSNChicago.com is your top destination on the road to the 2014 high school football season. CSN preps contributor “Edgy” Tim O’Halloran will take a look at 100 teams in 100 days, counting down to the opening night kickoff on August 29th.
School: Amos Alonzo Stagg
Head coach: Mike Fahey
Assistant coaches: Mike Durbin - Assistant H.C., Kevin Fahey - O.C., Gale Wilson - D.C., Randy Bolin, D.J. Matysek
Biggest storyline in 2014: Can the Chargers continue to move forward as a program in a new conference home this season? Stagg moves from the Southwest Suburban Red to the Blue this fall.
Names to watch: Senior SS Dennis Egan (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) leads an experienced defense for the Chargers in 2014. Look for Egan to have a chance to play on Saturdays after graduation.
Biggest hole to fill: Can the Chargers find enough depth and numbers to compete in the Southwest Suburban Blue?
EDGY's early take: The Chargers and head coach Mike Fahey made real progress in 2013 yet the move from the Southwest Suburban Red to the Blue is a big hurdle. Stagg could very well be a better team in 2014 yet the schedule week in and week out this fall will be a challenge.
