Biggest storyline in 2014: Can the Knights get over the hump? Over the past two seasons, Lincoln-Way Central has been within a few plays from becoming a state playoff team.

Name to watch: Junior offensive guard Bryan Ditchman (6-foot-3, 285 pounds) is an inside mauler on the Knights line. He is also on the wrestling team.

Biggest hole To fill: Lincoln-Way Central will need to find answers in the secondary. Senior Justin Markus (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) is the only returning starter in the secondary.

EDGY's early take: The Knights have been close to breaking into the IHSA state playoffs during the last two seasons. Venerable has a good, hard-working group. Look for Central to challenge for a Southwest Suburban Red Conference crown along with a state playoff spot.
