Great games are a big part of the Chicago high school basketball landscape and whether it’s an inner-city rivalry or an emerging foe, fans always look forward to marquee games on the schedule. Here are 10 games to watch for this season in the Chicagoland area. Later this week, we'll take a more in-depth look at some of the best shootouts and tournaments in the area this season. Please note that this list doesn't include any games featuring teams outside of the Chicagoland area.
December 1: St. Rita at Curie - The first week of the season will have some great Thanksgiving tournament matchups, but the Sunday matchup of top ten teams St. Rita and Curie will headline the opening week. Curie's Cliff Alexander will test St. Rita junior big man Myles Carter and the talented play of the Matthews brothers (Dominique and Charles) against the Stamps brothers (Joseph and Joshua) on the wing will be fun as well.
December 6: Saint Viator at Wheaton Academy - Wheaton Academy doesn't feature the toughest schedule, so this early-season tilt with visiting Saint Viator will be huge in determining how good this Wheaton Academy team can be early in the season. Can the size of Wheaton Academy stop the strong perimeter threat of Saint Viator?

December 10: St. Joseph at De La Salle - A good Catholic League game early in the season features a lot of the best junior talent in the state as the St. Joseph backcourt of Jordan Ash and Glynn Watson face De La Salle's talented junior class that includes forward Brandon Hutton, and guards Martez Cameron and Karl Harris.
December 19 and January 21: Morgan Park vs. Simeon - The yearly Battle for Vincennes often determines the Red-South and this season's games should be as intense as ever. Both Simeon and Morgan Park are coming off of state titles and will be looking for a conference and city title before the state playoffs come in March.
January 7: Larkin at Benet - Interesting nonconference clash should feature a nice contrast between Benet's Sean O'Mara on the interior and Larkin's guard play featuring Derrick Streety and Kendale McCullum.
January 18: Fenwick at Proviso East - Solid January nonconference matchup features two of the better teams from the West and should be a great test for both teams before the conference stretch run. West Virginia commit, Proviso East guard Jevon Carter will have his hands full with Northwestern commit, Fenwick wing Scott Lindsey.
January 25: Marian Catholic vs. Stevenson at Glenbard East - The matchup of the best guards in the state will feature Marian Catholic and Kentucky commit Tyler Ulis against Stevenson and junior point guard Jalen Brunson.
TBD: Orr vs. Whitney Young - These Red-West contests are always hard-fought and with the amount of talent that both of these top-10 teams possess, these should be some fun games. With Whitney Young playing a national schedule, these games will be some of their more difficult local games the No. 1 Dolphins see this season.
February 1: Saint Viator at Loyola - The headlining game of the "War on the Shore" should be one of the better nonconference games of the late season as Loyola looks to build on its late-season run last season.
February 1: Homewood-Flossmoor at Hillcrest - Two of the best teams in the south suburbs square off as Don Houston's team looks to make another run in March. Homewood-Flossmoor has the talent to be good, led by UIC commit and big man Tai Odiase, but they need others to step up.
