Aaron Lynch injures hamstring, misses Bears minicamp practice

The Chicago Bears are counting on outside linebacker Aaron Lynch to team up with Leonard Floyd to produce the kind of pass rush needed to slow Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins and Matthew Stafford in the NFC North this season. Lynch comes to Chicago after an up-and-down tenure in San Francisco that included seven games missed due to injury over the last two seasons.

That trend has continued this offseason.

Matt Nagy told reporters at Halas Hall Wednesday that Lynch suffered his second injury as a Bear; he dealt with a minor back injury during the team's first minicamp in April. This time, it's his hamstring. The injury isn't considered serious and Nagy said he should be healed in time for training camp.

Veteran Sam Acho will challenge Lynch for a starting job this summer and sixth-round pick Kylie Fitts will be in play for reps.  But if this hamstring issue is a sign of what's to come with Lynch, the Bears' pass rush could be in a world of hurt. It's also a reminder of why Lynch was signed to a one-year deal in free agency. He has a lot to prove this season, including his ability to stay healthy and produce for 16 games.
